The idea

You don’t have to earn your way here.

Most of the women I work with are smart, capable, and tired. Tired of striving to be enough, to prove something, to get it all right. Striving, striving, striving, and somehow still feeling like it’s never quite there.

Here’s what I believe, and what I’ve found to be true in my own life: your value isn’t something you earn. It’s already yours. When you can actually rest in that, something shifts. You stop trying to prove you have worth and start asking what you want to do with it. That’s the work we do together.

Not more effort. More freedom.

Real counseling with a real
person, for women who are
tired of trying to be enough.

I’m a real person, and I want to actually know you.

I’m a real person, and I want to actually know you.

I’m not the kind of therapist who nods slowly and asks how that makes you feel. Some sessions start with us laughing about something that happened this week. Then, because the trust is there, we can go to the harder places. A big part of the healing in counseling comes from the relationship itself, so this is a collaboration, not me telling you what to do with your life. I want to know who you are first. From there, we figure out the rest together.

Who I help

Counseling for women, from the teen years through adulthood

I walk with women through every season. Teenagers, young adults, and women in the middle of life, when the roles pile up and you start to wonder who you are underneath all of them.

A lot of the women I meet feel like a tulip that’s been trying to grow in a rose garden. Nothing is wrong with the tulip. It’s just in the wrong garden, surrounded by the wrong standard, and it has started to believe something is wrong with it. If that’s you, I’d love to meet you.

Self-esteem

Not feeling like enough, no matter what you achieve.

Anxiety

The overthinking, the perfectionism, the grasping for control.

Depression

The heaviness, the numbness, the hopelessness, the days that feel gray for no reason you can name.

Body image and food

You can’t hate your body into loving your body. We start somewhere kinder.

Trauma and the past

What happened then that still has a say in how you feel now. I’m trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy for exactly this.

Pregnancy and motherhood

Pregnancy, postpartum, and finding yourself again as a mom.

Life transitions

New seasons, loss, and figuring out who you are in the midst of all the change.

Relationships

Finding your people, building healthier friendships, and strengthening the relationships you already have. Loneliness too.

Faith

Christian counseling, if you want it in the room. If you don’t, that’s okay too.

Laena Tingstrom, Licensed Professional Counselor

I want to help you see your value, believe it deeply, and from that place build a life you love living.

About

Hi, I’m Laena.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Texas. For almost nine years I’ve walked with women through anxiety, depression, self-esteem, body image, relationships, and the experiences that shaped them. I’ve worked in a group therapy practice, a medical practice, university counseling, and church settings. In 2026 I opened my own practice, with the relationship at the center and enough room in my week to show up fully for the people I see, and for my own family too.

I started my career in Texas, and I still love working with women there. My husband served in the Army, and that’s what brought us to Colorado. Now that he’s out, we’ve chosen to stay and have loved living here. We have a little girl. I know what it takes to hold a family steady through change and not knowing what’s next, and I think that’s part of why I care so much about helping women feel steady in themselves.

I’m a Christian, and my faith is at the heart of why I believe every single person has inherent value. If faith is part of your life, I’d love to bring it into our work together, whether that’s prayer, Scripture, or just talking honestly about where God is in what you’re carrying. If it’s not part of your life, that is completely okay. You’re welcome here either way, and I’ll never make it a condition.

I’ll be honest about one more thing. I’ve wrestled with perfectionism myself, with needing to look like I had it all together. I know the relief that comes from laying that down, and that often you end up getting to do the things you wanted to do anyway, just from a free place instead of a burdened one. I’d love to help you find that too.

How I work

Honest, warm, and practical

I pull from a few evidence-based approaches and adapt them to you, not the other way around. Most sessions start with understanding the root of a pattern and why it’s showing up now, then we move to practical steps you can actually try this week.

One thing I believe strongly: real change comes from the inside out. You can’t shame yourself into a better life. When you start from a place of acceptance and kindness, healthy changes naturally flow from that instead of from force or pressure. That’s the difference between striving and growing.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Helps us notice the thoughts and beliefs underneath the anxiety, the low mood, and the self-criticism, and learn to respond to them differently.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Gives you real, usable skills for big emotions, for staying present, and for relationships that don’t cost you yourself.

ART

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

A brief approach for trauma and painful memories. Using guided eye movements, it helps your brain re-process what happened so it stops intruding on the present. You don’t have to relive the details to get relief.

Faith

If you’d like faith to be part of our work, I’m happy to integrate it into our sessions. If you’d rather keep counseling and faith separate, we can do that too. I’ll follow your lead.

The whole you

I also hold a certification in nutrition and healthy living, and I think about you as a whole person. Sleep, food, movement, and rest all affect how you feel. We’ll pay attention to them without turning them into one more thing you have to get right.
